Toberman along with Sid Grauman created the Chinese (which I am sure you are all familiar with), the Egyptian and the El Capitan. It opened in 1926 and quickly became a Hollywood landmark for live plays including “Anything Goes” and “Ah, Wilderness” and was the world premiere venue for Orson Welles’ Citizen Kane.

A Disney Venue Facility

The El Capitan was bought by Disney in 1989 and was named a certified historic site. It then went through a complete restoration. In 1991, it reopened and hosted the premiere of “The Rocketeer.”
