One Exciting Event
Large-scale events are our specialty. BEHR Paints came to us to coordinate their annual international sales meeting, a grand event encompassing many guests, many activities, and an itinerary full of excitement.
We’re always excited to partner with BEHR, and this time was no different. The sales meeting would take place in the scenic city of Las Vegas, a location with both urban and natural beauty.
The entire sales team, composed of 1200 coming from Guam, Hawaii, Mexico, Canada, and across the contiguous United States, would come together for three full days of events on a grand scale.
BEHR wanted this meeting, like many of its predecessors, to be an exciting event, with plenty of opportunities for team building, bonding between colleagues, and loads of adventure.
Three Days of Action
This meeting involved many moving parts, from travel to AV production.
BEHR approached us with the idea of taking their team on some exciting excursions during the event, harkening back to their conference last year.
This 3-day meeting would encompass not only the general sales meeting but mixers, awards ceremonies, breakout sessions, team building, excursions, and afterparties.
Our team would arrive onsite on Friday to begin preparing the main venue and executing rehearsals with the speakers, so everything would be fully ready by Saturday for BEHR’s sales force.
Setting the Scene
The weather was mild that day as our team pulled up to the scenic Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa in Las Vegas, Nevada. We’d brought with us every necessity we needed to make this event one to remember.
We unpacked our trucks, carrying in lights, speakers, mics, and lawn games for the upcoming event. We’d booked out the entire resort and would spend the days leading up to the event turning it into perfection for the sales team.
The view of the city’s skyline glittered outside the venue’s large windows as we began setting up and preparing for the event.
This event would feature many presentations and speakers. We spent an afternoon rehearsing with the speakers and presenters, helping prepare them for the big day as well as ensuring their speeches would go without a hitch. Speaker support, be it the technical side or the human side, is vital for big meetings like this.
We wanted to ensure we provided everything needed for our speakers to lead the breakout sessions and meetings that week.
A Warm Welcome
The two days leading up to the event went by in a hurry. On the day of the attendees’ arrival, our arrival and departure team stood ready at the airport, holding BEHR logo signs, and greeting each employee at their respective baggage claim areas. They led the staff to our buses, which would bring them to the resort to get settled in for their trip.
Leadership convened on Saturday night for a dinner, mingling and bonding on the resort’s veranda.
Meanwhile, a sales dinner took place that evening for the rest of the sales team. The second dinner took place in a gorgeous room with a view of the Las Vegas Strip, the lights of the city sparkling outside the windows.
Both dinners were full of conversation and laughter as employees caught up and mingled. The dinners signaled the start of the event, and judging by the atmosphere, we could tell this was going to be a great time for all.
Joyful Beginnings
Sunday morning began with breakfast followed by a reception. Registration tables stood ready for the team to check in, BEHR’s logo displayed neatly on LED screens behind the tables. All 1200 guests from across North America made their way into the venue and to the registration tables. Grabbing their event badges, the team made their way into the event space, smiles on their faces and conversation flowing amongst colleagues.
The first breakout session of the event began early that morning. After having a delicious breakfast in one of the resort’s restaurants, BEHR’s attendees went on to their breakout sessions.
Throughout the event, we had several breakout meetings across the hotel, running throughout the day, ensuring employees were able to attend every one applicable to them. For this first breakout meeting, we’d fitted the ballroom of the resort with all manner of AV equipment, designed to give the nine speakers everything they would need for a successful session.
Successfully executed meetings are crucial, especially during a large event like this, and our team diligently made sure this one went perfectly.
Poolside Lunch
After the meeting had concluded, the sales team gathered for a poolside lunch. The large main pool with its spraying fountain glistened in the midday sun as attendees ate, chatted, and mingled.
We’d brought in plenty of cabana seating for guests to recline on. Attendees sat around the main and many smaller pools, resting on grassy areas and basking in the warm Nevada sunshine. Though it was not yet springtime, the air was warm and pleasant, making for an ideal luncheon outdoors.
Following lunch, more breakout sessions ran simultaneously. Attendees were able to move between them as needed with ease, while our bustling event managers worked in the background to facilitate a smooth day.
We worked to and fro, and between ourselves and the event attendees, the halls and rooms of the resort were alive with movement.
Reconnecting with Friends
Monday morning started with delicious breakfasts across three of the resort’s award-winning restaurants.
Colleagues ate and chatted over their meal, the restaurants filled with lively conversation and an upbeat spirit.
Having come from across the continent for many previous meetings, these colleagues had plenty to catch up on.
Giving them time to reconnect in person was of utmost importance, and the buzzing flow of conversation in every restaurant showed how excited they were to see each other.
Crafting the Perfect Meeting
That Monday brought with it the general sessions, all hands meeting. BEHR’s employees filled the ballroom, ready and engaged already for the important meeting. Our team had brought in immense AV support and plenty of pipe and drape to make this meeting perfect.
As the attendees entered the room, triumphant music played over the speakers. They were welcomed by warm lighting overhead and the BEHR logo projected on a large LED screen we had set up on the stage.
This LED screen was assembled and set up by us on-location, as were the truss and rigging supporting its mighty weight.
Our AV technicians worked throughout the meeting to ensure the technical side of things went flawlessly, and our speaker support ensured everything flowed seamlessly
Sunshine & Socializing
The general sessions meeting ran for an hour and a half. After it had concluded, lunch was served. The meal took place poolside that afternoon, the splendid pool area of the resort serving as a beautiful and vibrant backdrop.
Colleagues mingled and caught up over delicious food and beverages, the sunshine invigorating them for the following events. Once again, the cabana furniture served as a place to recline and relax, staggered neatly around the glimmering blue pools and grassy areas.
Palm trees stood high around the space, reaching into the bright afternoon sky. BEHR’s team laughed and bonded over the poolside meal before returning to the day’s agenda. We had another team building experience prepared for them later.
Five breakout meetings ran concurrently, attendees moving freely between them. Though the day was busy, it was also exciting and enjoyable for both the team and us.
Awards & Team Building Games
Once the meetings for the day had wrapped up, the awards ceremony began. Awards were given across the sales team. Employee awards ceremonies are an important part of these meetings. Giving back and recognizing outstanding leadership, sales, or jobs well done is guaranteed to invigorate teams and employees.
The awards dinner following this took place in the gorgeous Red Rock Ballroom at the resort. Guests mingled and congratulated each other over the meal. We knew this day would inspire them to reach for the stars again in the coming year, just as BEHR had hoped for.
After the dinner reception, the sales team went for a team building game of bowling. This activity would facilitate teamwork and team bonding, with players teaming up and facing off in a fun game.
The screens above the lanes proudly boasted BEHR’s company logo, welcoming our guests to the arena. Laughter mingled with the sound of rolling balls and pins clattering to fill the bowling hall. The atmosphere was joyful, full of friendly competition, and plenty of fun. The bowling alley’s lights cast the room in a glow, combining with the sounds of play to make an amazing scene.
Pool Party Fun
Once our attendees had finished their bowling sessions, a nighttime pool party took place. We filled the concreted areas with plenty of lawn games designed to promote team connections.
Colleagues joked and mingled over foosball and ping pong tables, the outdoor lights casting a warm glow over the area. Connect four, cornhole, and Jenga games going on around the pool area, laughter and conversation making the night air all the more lively.
The stars sparkled in the sky overhead, the iconic skyline lights glowing in the distance. Our team was pleased to see that our guests were having fun, bonding, and relaxing together.
Following the lawn games came a karaoke session. Colleagues sang their hearts out together, the sense of camaraderie, team bonding, and friendship making this end to the night all the more special.
Exciting Excursions
Day three was packed to the brim with excursions. All the excursions were scheduled to run at the same time, each being overseen by one of our event managers. These experiences were dedicated to team building, bonding time between colleagues, and making lasting memories.
Though team building had played a part in many of the activities at the event, these excursions served as one full day of team bonding and building for the sales force. Each activity would focus on incorporating the 3 C’s of team building, valuable skills for any sales team.
Attendees signed up for their adventure of choice on the shuttle before the event started. The day’s itinerary was full of excitement, with varied excursion activities to suit all types of people.
At the resort, groups formed to take part in their chosen excursion activity. For those looking to relax and mingle, a golf game at Angel’s Park was scheduled. Those looking to soak in the beautiful Nevada scenery in the Red Rock Canyon went for either an e-bike tour, a hike, or a pink Jeep tour. Those looking for exciting games took part in paintball, a scavenger hunt, or the Baja chase– an exciting team building activity focused on chasing and catching a guide amongst the sand dunes.
The Perfect Setting
The groups set out early that morning after breakfast, loading into their respective shuttles for their activities. Our event planners loaded up gear, such as snacks and water, bringing it along with their designated group.
The weather was mild and the sky a clear blue as the sales team set off for a day full of unforgettable experiences.
Las Vegas is a magical place where the urban sprawl meets the natural landscape like the ocean meeting the horizon. Wandering just outside of the city proper brings one to gorgeous ruddy deserts and ancient rock formations covered with pictographs and paintings from ages past. The sky here stretches on forever, with the pine-covered Spring Mountains reaching up to greet it in turn. The Red Rock Canyon is one of Las Vegas’s most breathtaking locations, a hallmark of the natural beauty of the southwest.
The mountains encircling the canyon are red and striking, decorated with shrubs and other desert plant growth. This canyon is an immensely popular destination when looking for outdoor adventures. Luckily for today’s visitors, BEHR knew the draw of the region was unlike any other.
Team Building at the Trails
Bikes started up at one canyon trailhead, and the group was on their way.
Scheduled to return by noon, the 48 adventurers would travel through the breathtaking bike trails winding through the area.
At the same time, the hiking group of 34 set off, following another one of Red Rock Canyon’s 26 scenic trails.
These team building excursions focused on bonding as well as communication and collaboration skills. The sales team would need to utilize these skills while they adventured, but the activities were also meant to be reinvigorating and a way to make memories together.
Taking the Scenic Route
At another spot, the pink Jeep roared to life, its 49 riders scheduled to take the 1-mile scenic drive along Red Rock Canyon. The road seemed to stretch on forever in front of the team.
The guide driving the Jeep introduced the team to the history and beauty of the area. This excursion activity focused on team building through making shared memories and experiences.
The sales team would grow closer through the long drive and learn together about this unique region of North America.
All the activities in the wide stretch of the canyon were thrilling. We love coordinating exciting excursions, and these, we felt, were perfect.
These employees from across many regions came together in the vast outdoors, not only bonding and experiencing the activities but team building while they were at it. BEHR knew these experiences would both reward these employees and foster connections between them, growing an even stronger team.
Tees & Team Bonding
Meanwhile, the group arrived at Angel’s Park for their game of golf. The golf course was beautifully backdropped by distant mountains and the sun shone brightly across the vibrantly-colored greens.
Angel’s Park has two championship golf courses designed by Arnold Palmer, and the park itself is ranked as Las Vegas’s top golf course. Guests relaxed and networked, conversation flowing as they played.
Golf is a popular corporate team building activity for good reason. The quiet, relaxing nature of the game lends itself nicely to mingling and bonding and promotes communication while participants play.
The 203 attendees had a great time, and we ourselves found the hours passing awfully fast.
Fun at the Paintball Arena
The paintball excursion took place at Las Vegas Premier Paintball. Excited guests boarded shuttle buses, making the journey from the resort to the arena. The buses carried with them three boxes of snacks, to keep players energized for their games.
Each of the 55 players were given 500 rounds to begin their game, and before we knew it, the paintball arena sprang to life with a flurry of action, brightly-colored paint, and a buzzing energy like no other.
The high-energy team building activity was perfect for amping the team up for their final day of the event. Teams would utilize their collaborative skill sets, sharpening their minds as they played, a key lesson they would take back to the office.
Laughter and banter filled the air as the players battled it out. We found ourselves swept up in the action as the game went on.
A High-Tech Scavenger Hunt
Simultaneously, over at Go Cars Tour, teams readied themselves on their namesake Go Cars for an exciting scavenger hunt.
These cars are a unique one-person ride, taking up little space, meaning drivers can traverse city streets like in the Strip with ease. The vehicles are equipped with a GPS system, so even if drivers split up, they’ll be able to find their way back to each other as well as home base.
Teams competed to find all objectives in the race, following clues around the area as they went. This team building activity utilized their communication and coordination skills, something they could use in the workplace after the trip.
Our 50 players had a blast all the while, this exciting game invigorating every one of them.
The Baja Chase
Over at Nellis Dunes, 3 buses parked and 150 guests emerged to start the Baja Chase. In this activity, players go on a chase across sand dunes, trails, and valleys to catch their guide.
This team building game was full of high energy and excitement, making a perfect bonding experience highlighting the importance of teamwork. Lively team building experiences like this are truly unforgettable.
Voices carried and echoed across canyons and hills, laughter and chatter making music around the dunes as the chase went on. We were just as enthralled as the team, the exciting and hilarious game sweeping us off our feet, even from the sidelines.
The End of a Successful Event
That afternoon, the team arrived back at the resort to spend the last day of their trip together.
They’d made great memories and smiles beamed as they discussed their adventures today with one another.
Everyone was gleaming, invigorated, and energized by the event. We felt proud, having organized exactly the event BEHR knew their team would love. Our attendees were merry and happy, and so were we.
The following morning, breakfast at the resort marked the end of the meeting. The team boarded their shuttles after the meal, smiling, laughing, and talking as they went.
Our drivers took them to the airport, where folks bid their colleagues farewell, already looking forward to the next annual meeting.
Looking Forward to the Next
Back at the resort, our team had only an hour and a half to strike down and return the resort to its original state. Bustling and hurrying, all hands pitched in to ensure we cleaned up perfectly in record time.
Our own team conversed and mingled, feeling an overwhelming sense of pride and joy at this successful event.
As we pulled away from the parking lot of the resort in our cars and vans, the latter filled with our gear and games, we looked back with a smile.
We, too, looked forward to the next annual meeting, and the excitement and fun it held. We knew that the next event, just like this one, would be an unforgettable and amazing experience for all.
