Refueling Employees
When a premium energy drink company contacted us, they wanted to refuel their employees with a lifestyle event designed to build morale and strengthen teamwork. It is our honor and pleasure to specialize in these types of employee activation events. 35 years in this industry and we still are excited to see employees gather and grow together.
Santa Monica Transformation
Our Santa Monica event planners transformed a parking lot of a premium energy drink company into the grounds of inspiration. Employees returning to work this week will find more than just a good place to park – they’ll find the memories they created under the inflatable banner of their workplace.
Strung across the lot lights, colorful flags waved greetings in the wind while the whirl of motors pumping inflatables hummed a hello. A live DJ kicked up the mood with high-energy beats that made it hard not to move. The lot was lined with sports interactives such as our ever popular Double Hoop Shot, Quarterback Double Toss, Golf Chip Challenge, Strike Zone, and our challenging Wild One Roller Coaster Obstacle Course. These, along with the field games, provided structure in the open lot that created a flow from the Challenge Zone to the refueling area featuring tacos and plenty of liquid fuel in whatever flavor they root for.
A Culture of “Challenge Accepted”
When you plan an event for a group of employees, it is important to capture the culture of the workplace. This group of employees, like the company they represent, are energetic winners. To inspire and motivate animated people, competitions are always a great way to go. We brought in all the favorites and added additional challenges to keep their energy levels up. (For more ideas on how to inspire employees, click here.)
We split them into 4 teams of 12 people each and the games began…To help the employees get their feet wet (so to speak) we started the games off with a Water Relay. Every team member lined up with buckets on each end. Teams had to be the fastest to squeeze a 250 oz win from a wet sponge into an awaiting bucket. These players were simply dripping with bubbly energy as they moved onto the next challenge!
Team Building Turns the Wheel
The Sprocket Race requires players to work together as one unit. It is an absolutely hilarious (and fun) collaboration game. Each member is a “sprocket” in the wheel and must move together, each doing their part to turn the wheel. The first half of the team moves the wheel the first half before switching and allowing the other set of human sprockets finish the race. When having team building events, this is a must have game!
Having already turned the wheel on the competition, players doubled up for a head to head at the Double Hoop Shot and the Quarterback Double Toss. Every member took a shot for bragging rights, each in turn until everyone had a shot at glory!
Trying on a New Suit
After this, it was time for a change. There is an old proverb that says you can’t judge someone until you walk a mile in their shoes, well look out executives because this next challenge put them in suits and sent them through our Wild One Roller Coaster Obstacle Course. Some even had to safeguard a precious noodle and rubber chicken through the obstacle course!
Going to the Green
If the C-suite was not a good fit, there was always the Strike Zone. Teams needed to score a 3 point lead in order to move forward. Don’t trust that Gary’s Live Arm is going to carry your team – once a member scores, they are removed from the rotation. So belly up to the hill and put some zip in it, we got a game to play!
Teams traded their baseballs for golf balls at the Gold Chip challenge. Stepping on the green they had one goal: a hole in one that would auto advance their entire team to the last challenge!
Go Big or Go Home
The final challenge was a unique twist to the all-time classic Cup Stack. Not only were these cups big – giant really – but teams were also pushed to the max. First team members had to build a pyramid of 6 cups, both up and back down. The next team members were given the same challenge, but blindfolded. As the winner emerged, the burst of applause and genuine joy for the winning team is proof that this energy drink company boasts some of the best employees on the planet!
Although the challenge was complete, the spirit of these employees remained elated. Rousing games and call outs continued as the day went on. Re-matches were called at the various sports and laughter rang out through the parking lot. Their energy was contagious, leaving us rooting for our favorite team and cheering equally for the winners.
Our Los Angeles event planning company takes a lot of pride in seeing people thoroughly enjoy themselves at our events. After an unprecedented pandemic, it is even more precious to us to help bring people together and create joyful memories. As we took down the last of the decor, folded away the last inflatable and closed the door to the truck – we looked back at the parking lot and knew that come Monday, the joy would return.
