But our favorite events to produce have to be awards and recognition events. These celebrate the superheros that make the world a better place!
Employee recognition events are special. Letting staff know they’re valued and appreciated while giving them recognition for their hard work will only further both their own and the company’s success. When we were contacted to host an employee recognition party for Kinecta Federal Credit Union, we knew this event would be special for their team.
Kinecta has a mission to focus on the human side of banking, a goal they know will be achieved through their valued staff. Their team numbers close to 1,000 employees, each one skilled at what they do and incredibly valued by their company. This employee recognition party would serve to celebrate this remarkable team and would come with a poignant theme: superheroes. Kinecta sees each member of their team as just that– superheroes for their community. So, on a warm fall afternoon, we set to work helping coordinate this impactful party.
The event would take place in Los Angeles at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott Hotel. Our event management team diligently planned ahead for this day, coordinating the arrival of rentals, casino games, food and beverage as well as the staff ahead of time. Our team arrived at the hotel to begin preparations while the air still carried its chill before the sun was more than a ruddy streak over the horizon.
Tables were arranged, decor setup, lighting and AV equipment laid out and tested – the room was buzzing like a well managed hive. Balloons and centerpieces arrived, the stage was dressed, pipe and drape hung, we went through the run of show with hotel staff as well as our own final run through – all before 6:30am.
Kinecta’s superheros arrived early that morning, directed to the entrance by parking staff. As they made their way to their breakfast tables, the smell of freshly baked bread and hot coffee wafted their way. Breakfast was served upon their arrival. Loaves of bread, cubed fruit, fresh bananas, and bagels adorned their plates, with toppings like cream cheese and fruit preserves. The atmosphere was lively, the buzz of conversation and clinking of china letting us know the team was ready for their day.
Once everyone had their fill, they were ushered to the first ballroom, where their all-hands meeting would take place. Our lighting team had already begun preparations the day before the meeting, and our AV service team had made sure everything was up to scale. The ballroom was equipped with state-of-the-art sound and lighting and as our guests filtered through its doors, our own MC greeted them. Today’s meeting would involve a show from a live band, keynote speakers, and presentations. Our AV director watched from behind the scenes, ensuring the visual and audio aspects of each segment were perfectly orchestrated.
Between speakers and presentations, we’d arranged for breaks for guests to have snacks, drink coffee, and mingle. On the menu were whole fruits, granola bars, freshly made popcorn, and pretzels. Drinks for the day were the guests’ choice of coffee, decaf, tea, or water. Guests had their fill of refreshments during their breaks, networking and conversing as they did so.
Kinecta had arranged for a raffle to be held today, and we’d brought in plenty of tables on which to display the prizes. They’d be taking tickets after the meeting today, and our raffle drum sat proudly on a table, waiting for its big moment. Raffle tickets were drawn at the end of the meeting. Raffles, we find, are a great way to keep guests engaged throughout an event, giving them an undercurrent of excitement and anticipation as the drawing grows nearer.
The meeting went smoothly, engaging guests in moving speeches and thoughtful presentations. When the meeting had commenced, our guests were led into a second ballroom for lunch.
This luncheon was designed around giving the guests time to kick back, mingle, and play games. On the menu were Cuban sliders, tacos, nachos, fruit salad, garden salad, and ice cream novelties.
We’d adorned the tables with brightly-colored cloths, their vibrant red, purple, yellow, and blue tops decorated with balloons and floral arrangements as centerpieces. A live band, Smith, played from the stage, their music filling the wide space.
Once the competition was over guests were free to eat, converse, and play games as they pleased. For this party, we brought in our MEGA Casino games, giant versions of popular casino games that guests always adore. Guests were free to play MEGA Horse Derby, MEGA Slots, or MEGA Roulette, trading their “Casino Money” for prizes upon their wins. We’d also brought in laidback board games, designed to give guests time to socialize and network.
Befitting the superhero theme, guests were delighted by our roaming Batman, who mingled with them in character and posed for photos with every guest.
We’d brought in a photo booth with a photographer to capture every guest who wished, be it with Batman, or with our superhero-themed props.
Our photo booth stayed busy throughout the luncheon, with plenty of guests coming and going and capturing everlasting memories.
Smiles, conversation, cheers, and laughter all filled the air, delighting our team’s ears as we worked. We could tell the employees were enjoying themselves. A sense of revelry filled the air, with lively music from the band only adding to the energy. Our staff found ourselves invigorated as we worked, bustling away trash or handling other background work. The excitement from our guests always makes us feel both rejuvenated and fulfilled.
People moved to and fro across the wide ballroom, going from game to game or to our food displays. Though, according to the time, we knew the event was winding down, we could tell Kinecta’s staff were still lively. Their smiles and laughter were contagious to us. Events like these are important. Studies show employee appreciation and recognition goes a long way in boosting morale, productivity, and overall happiness.
As the clock neared 3:00, the employee recognition party came to a close. Our guests made their way to the door, still smiling, laughing, and chatting. Their arms were full of prizes, and their hearts were full of happiness. Ours were, too. We could tell this party had been a hit with each of them. Kinecta’s goal of showing their employees recognition and love was fulfilled. We knew the encouragement had touched the hearts of every team member today. We were thrilled to be a part of this special event to celebrate Kinecta’s heroes.
