About Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine
Nestled in the rich history of Philadelphia sits the 17-acre home of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Founded in 1899 by two students, the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (or PCOM for short) began as an ambitious pursuit to tech and expand this growing field of medicine.
From the start, PCOM understood the need to work as a team toward a collective goal. This higher-education facility does not pursue profits. Instead, they seek out people who have the drive to help others and the connection to those who need that help. It is safe to say that it has been this dedication to cooperative work and community that have helped make PCOM stand out in the study destination that is Philadelphia.
PCOM Shows Employees Love in Philly
When PCOM wanted to say thank you to their employees, those vital people who make their growth and 2019 expansion possible, we were delighted to become part of the team. Working together, we created a carnival-themed appreciation event on-site at their pristine campus (take the tour) in the “City of Brotherly Love”.
Near Evans Hall, two Flyguys were dancing in the wind, altering employees of the fun to be had. The luscious lawn was transformed into an outdoor dining area. Ten round umbrella tables covered in crisp white linens were aligned near the tented buffet tables. Red and white linens and table shirts completed the food stations and made the area feel like a carnival.
The Fantastic Fresh Food
The grill was set up just moments away from the tables, filling the grassy area with the smell of Coney Island Style hot dogs, big and beefy Black Angus hamburgers, summer vegetable skewers and pulled chicken smothered in bold barbecue sauce. Food was served fresh and hot right off the grill as employees passed through to and from the day’s entertainment. Sides were presented on a beautiful shaded buffet table and included primavera pasta salad, grilled new potato skewers, corn on the cob and a fresh cucumber and tomato salad.
For dessert, guests enjoyed hot, fresh funnel cakes. Fresh, airy cotton candy, flavored sno-cones, ice cream novelties and fun food like buttery popcorn made the day smell like a carnival (see all our picnic catering menus).
Carnival Fun for Philly Employees
This carnival-themed employee appreciation event had tons of games and activities. Bursts of laughter from the crowds around the Bungee Run and Gladiator Joust. Giant lawn games included oversized Checkers, a huge Connect Four, an oversized Pick-up Sticks and not one, but two life-size Jengas (a favorite at outdoor events). These Philly employees sure had some big-time fun!
A DJ kept the energy up while attendants handed out fun prizes from the five different carnival booths. Guests were also able to take home photo strips from their photo booth and caricature artist drawings to ensure a physical reminder of the brotherly love and appreciation that PCOM has for their employees. Planning this company picnic in Philadelphia has been a highlight for us thanks to the fun-loving people of PCOM. Thank you for partnering with our company picnic specialists and congratulations on your 2019 expansion!
