Mask Up & Get Down
2020 has given many little reason to venture from their homes. One lucky Friday the 13th, one company gathered a small group to celebrate its Grand Opening. Guests masked up and got down to smooth tunes from DJ K-Fresh.
Safety
Safety was paramount at this Grand Opening. Check points, temperature checks, vinyl coverings at food stations, plexiglass barriers at the bar, gallons of hand sanitizer, gloves and the all-too-familiar masks were in place for the safety of guests and employees.
Limited seating was in place with tables following current restaurant guidance to allow for social distancing. Attendees were given wristbands to show they were asymptomatic at check-in. A Sanitation Tech monitored surface use and touch points, cleaning throughout the day.
Food & Beverages
Food was pre-packaged, but not your average meal-in-a-box. No way! If guests were attending THIS grand opening, the food had to be top notch!
The appetizer station offered a choice from Margarita Shrimp Skewers with fresh cilantro dipping sauce, Cauliflower Lettuce Wraps drizzled with black vinegar garlic chili sauce, and Mini Korean Bulgugi Tacos.
For lunch attendees were served their choice of Boxed Keto Meditteranean Bowl Lunches. Varieties included chopped beef gyro, aegean grilled chicken breast or grecian cauliflower rice.
For refreshments guests could make a selection from the hosted beer, wine and champagne bar. Non-alcoholic beverages included Coke, Diet Coke, 7-Up, Perrier, and Water. All dishes and beverages were served in heavy duty disposable-ware for safety reasons.
Setup
Careful attention to table arrangements was made. All tables were covered in white, floor length tablecloths. Vinyl covers were used on high traffic tables (such as the check in station) to allow for sanitation wipe downs as well. Because the event was held outdoors under the California sun, umbrella tables were used for guests to enjoy their meals under some shade. To further keep guests comfortable, white padded chairs were used in place of plastic ones.
Printed signage directed guests and informed them. Small and medium sized floral arrangements were ordered, delivered and placed on tables with care. It may have been a smaller event, but we ensured every detail was arranged with the love and attention of a gala.
Once set up, everything was wiped down under the supervision of the Sanitation Tech.
Audio/Visual
DJ Fresh was set up under a market umbrella. The fully masked DJ played Top 40 (censored) songs and came fully prepared with additional tunes for those who wanted to dance. His tune table, coffin and speakers were a refreshing site for many who spent the majority of the year indoors.
Also included in the audio/visual services for this Grand Opening were a PA system and a 65” LED screen. This was for the speech and display from the company head who took a moment to address the attendees from behind his mask.
Distant, But Still United
While guests were socially distant, they were still united. If there is one thing that 2020 has taught us all it is we are apart, but in this together. It felt good to feel the sun on our faces, to lift and arrange tables and chairs, to hear the excited voices of attendees and, most of all, to help bring people together safely.
