Showing Thanks in a Big Way

Samsung is a global giant whose vision is to continue to lead the world to the future through creativity, partnerships and great people. On June 22, 2018, at Overpeck Park in New Jersey, Samsung celebrated those great people in a big way.

Creating the Best for the Best

Having worked with Samsung in the past, we know that their philosophy is to develop products and services that give customers the best satisfaction. That is why we wanted to make sure the employees of Samsung in New Jersey felt that same attention and appreciation at their company picnic.

Our event coordinators love working with the blank canvas of local parks. Thankfully, the natural gem of Bergen County is near the Samsung center in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. Overpeck County Park is over 800 acres of amenities, open spaces and group picnic areas spreading across four different cities. At just eight years old, the Ridgefield Park Area has 22 acres of new park space including a rentable amphitheater with 3,000 lawn seats. This open space would become the private picnic for some 200 employees. Transformed with fun inflatables for adults, a sno-cone trolly, massive wood-burning grill, a stage, and tented stations.

Oversized at Overpeck Park

How do you celebrate employees of a global giant? Why you go big or go home, of course! Everything at Overpeck Park was oversized. Giant sized versions of classic childhood games like Jenga, Checkers and Connect 4 made the adult employees feel like kids again.

Teams faced off with coworkers cheering them on at Corn Hole, Giant Pong, a rockwall and at the triad of carnival game tents. There were no shortages of activities at this company outing.

Giant Games

This oversized picnic also included two inflatable games for adults. The Hungry Hippo, where the guests become the hippo in this dash to the past, and the 85 foot Boot Camp Obstacle Course designed for adults.

Employees had a great day playing games to accumulate raffle tickets that were awarded for winning many of the activities of the day. Good, old friendly competition was in the air with great Samsung prizes awarded to the raffle winners.

Dunking the Competition

Though employees enjoyed an assortment of fun games and activities, it was the dunk tank that became a headlining act. Thankfully, towels were provided for all those VPs brave enough to enter the cage. Fair warning though, these employees have great aim. For $5, employees got three throws to dunk their Samsung leaders and could feel guilt-free doing it. As part of their corporate responsibility as a public service company, Samsung donated all of the dunk tank proceeds to Junior Achievements.

Junior Achievements

Junior Achievements (JA) is the nations largest organization dedicated to “inspiring and preparing young people to succeed in a global economy”. JA purpose aligns with Samsung’s vision to “inspire the world and create the future”.

One VP managed to stay dry through a bit of Samsung-inspired creativity leaving everyone, including the attendant, laughing hysterically! Wet or dry, employees loved the VP Dunk Tank.

Managers Serve Up A Plateful of Thanks

he aroma from the on-site grills and smoker saturated the air as everyone gathered under the tent to relax and enjoy a delectable BBQ lunch. The incredibly enthusiastic and dedicated managers showed their appreciation to their employees by serving up lunch. The benefits of employee appreciation events and kind actions like this make these moments even more impactful.

This picnic menu included our very best mouth-watering Smoked Beef Short Ribs, Kielbasa Sausage and Applewood Smoked Chicken. For the non-meat entree, a local vegan favorite was brought in and available upon request. Sides included Corn on the Cob, Macaroni Salad, Fresh Fruit Platter, Banana Pudding and a Garden Salad.

After Lunch, Desserts

After lunch, everyone was thrilled to see the sno-cone trolly arrive with cold desserts. With over 14 flavors to choose from, employees enjoyed yummy sno-cones and an assortment of ice cream treats.

After the delicious BBQ, the managers entered the manufactured stage and gave some lively and entertaining speeches. Guests were called up to the stage to sport their best Hawaiian shirts for one last chance to win raffle tickets. After which tickets were drawn. Everyone excited to see who would be winning the amazing Samsung prizes!

Giant Games and Giant Memories

The fun continued with lots of fun of oversized game competitions. The Dunk Tank and Giant Pong were company favorites, while some serious concentration went into Giant Jenga and Giant Checkers as well. As the afternoon came to a close, we couldn’t help but be captivated by the great people at Samsung. It was such an honor to be able to help in creating these fun memories for the company that puts people first.
