Baby Hi-Chairs

A hi-chair is a cushioned constraining chair used for babies and toddlers while eating. The hi-chair can either be slid underneath the eating table or attached to the edge of the table with clamps. The chair has a removable eating tray which rests on top of the table. Hi-chairs are used to elevate the baby to the height of the table and helps in encouraging them to feed themselves because they are included in the eating process. The hi-chair itself can be made of a sturdy plastic or metal and can either be attached to the edge of the table itself with clamps or pulled underneath the table so that the baby can join his or her parents at an eating table.

Hi-chairs are typically not used at events because parents are usually required to leave their children with a baby-sitter. Hi-chairs are most often used at restaurants or in a home situation for every day. Hi-chairs help the baby to form normal eating habits while allowing the parents to eat simultaneously. The baby’s food is usually placed on the plastic tray in front of them so that they can attempt to feed themselves. After the baby has finished eating, the plastic tray is removed and washed so it can be reused. If the hi-chair is clamped to the table the baby would just be lifted out after the constraints have been removed. If the hi-chair fits underneath the table then it is usually pushed to the side of the room.
