Dessert Station

A dessert station can be one of two things. To begin, a dessert station is the place where dessert is served in a buffet style dining experience. A dessert station is either a table or type of stand where all the dessert options for that particular event are placed for the guests to help themselves or be served by an attendant. A dessert station is much like a dessert tray at a restaurant because guests are able to receive a visual of how the dessert looks and can decide which one they would like to consume. It is a common belief that food is the most appealing when viewed in a fabulous presentation. Therefore, the dessert station at an event needs to be very decorative and the desserts should appear to be very decadent and appetizing. No one wants a dessert that appears to be “thrown together.” Dessert stations usually offer food items in individual portions such as:

  • Crème Brule
  • Tiramisu
  • Brownies
  • Cookies
  • Apple and other types of Pies
  • Peach and other types of Cobblers
  • Strawberry Shortcake
  • Cheesecake
  • Individual Pastries
  • Donuts
  • Baklava

The items are usually served in individual paper containers or on plates and might allow the guest to receive more than one depending on what the dessert selection is. Dessert stations provide the same advantages as a buffet itself. It is more inexpensive option rather than serving all your guests the same dessert because you can guarantee that not everyone will even eat dessert. You are offering more than one dessert item and can decide to offer less of a dessert that costs more to make. A dessert station puts all control back in your hand and leaves little to chance.
Dessert Stations can also be a specific type of action station, meaning a chef cooks a variety of a dessert right in front of the guests. This allows guests to pick and choose their own toppings and ingredients. Examples of desserts that would be perfect for a dessert action station are:

  • Ice cream sundaes
  • Banana Splits
  • Crepes
  • Chocolate Fondue with Fruit
  • Desserts served with a variety of ice cream and other toppings
