Corporate Events
Corporate events, simply put, are any event whether it be strictly for business or pleasure thrown by a company or corporation for their employees to meet, socialize or celebrate. Examples of corporate events are:
Companies hold events typically anywhere from 2-4 times a year to celebrate, recognize and meet with their employees. The corporate event is a huge market for an event planning company because the events do happen on a regular basis and often have a sizable budget. The corporate event consists of the same elements as any other event, to an even higher degree.
Everything about the corporate event should be professional and timely because of the amount of money that is often being spent. The only thing to keep in the fore front of ones mind when planning a corporate event is tastefulness. You want everything to be more on the conservative side when it comes to the entertainment, décor and even food. You are often planning for a large number of people and should make sure that your set up isn’t too funky or risqué as not to offend people with a more conservative taste. This includes your musical selection as well. You also have to remember that some corporate events are a family environment, and if there will be kids in attendance you can’t serve everyone veal at a sit down dinner.
If you are planning an adult event for say an Apple Computer corporation, you will probably be dealing with a younger crowd so they might want to hear pop music from the 1990s but a medical convention would probably not. It is up to the event planner to listen carefully to the client and/or contact person at the corporation to identify what the need really is. If the corporate event happens to be a picnic, then they will probably need teambuilding activities as well as activities for kids. Corporate events might not be heavy on the alcohol but it definitely depends on the company culture, the time of year and the reason for the event. If the company is celebrating their grand opening- its safe to assume they would at least serve champagne for toasting.
